A job well done by a grade 10 student from Sylvan Lake.

Carter Brouilette, a student at Notre Dame High School in Red Deer has received the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award.

The award recognizes that not all learning happens in the classroom, honouring students that show commitment and achievements in a variety of activities outside of school.

Brouilette points to his time with a local cadet squadron for this achievement.

“I received this award because of my continuous activity in volunteer work, physical fitness and the learning of new skills, most of which happened at my cadet squadron (65 Ponoka RCACS). Receiving this award felt surreal. I plan on continuing with my extracurricular work and hope to receive the Gold Award this upcoming December”.

He's one of 4 students in our province receiving the prestigious honour.
