It was a short sleep last night for residents of Royal Oak Manor in north Lacombe.

Lacombe Deputy Fire Chief Eric Graham says the fire department was called for reports of a fire about 2:30 am.

They arrived to find light smoke coming from the duct work in the south wing.

As a result, residents were evacuated from the south wing to the north wing of the building.

Graham says once the evacuation was complete, the alarm panel was re-set, the smoke was no longer deemed a concern and everyone was returned to their units.

They continue to investigate.
