Dressing rooms, space for an ice resurfacing machine and a livestock wash area are among the new additions planned for the Delburne Agriplex Arena.

The Red Deer-based Shunda Consulting was awarded the contract to renovate the building, as well as construct its new addition.

The contract is valued at about $1.3 million before taxes. Engineering will cost $100,000 and $62,907 will be set aside for contingency.

Tendering for the project closed in May. There were five bids, four which did not meet tender requirements.

Red Deer County’s community services manager Jo-Ann Symington says construction is expected to start in July and finish in November.
