It couldn't have been much easier for Sean McIntyre in the race for mayor, as not one person decided to run against him in October's municipal election.

Potential candidates had from eight till noon today to get their forms in to run for mayor and or Town council.

McIntyre said there is so much excitment heading into his second term.

“My intent is to be resident focused and visitor friendly and make Sylvan Lake a great place to do business and to raise a family. Those values are always in the back of my mind with how we are framing decisions and making decisions.”

“Looking back over the last four years I’m very proud of what we accomplished. There will always be problems to solve whether they are new or something we have to change from the past.”

Having no one put their name in to race against him, is something that says a lot, says McIntyre.

“It’s definitely humbling. This whole job is humbling. It’s seriously just an honour to serve my hometown as mayor and to know that I get to continue doing that for another four years, I’m just so happy.”

The municipal election takes place October 16.
