Santa is taking a break from building toys for good boys and girls to visit with Blackfalds residents on Thursday, December 19th, and Friday, December 20th, for the great cause of helping the Blackfalds Fire Department collect donations for the food bank.

As part of their 13th annual Santa run, the Blackfalds fire department will be bringing him through different neighbourhoods, looking for donations of non-perishable food or cash.

Blackfalds Fire Chief Robert Cote says the response they get from residents young and old is always overwhelmingly positive.

"The reaction and the comments and feedback that we get back are very positive. We've got people coming out from Red Deer to visit family and to see it. They love it."

Cote says it'll be a similar format as years prior.

"We will be collecting food for the good bank as usual, and the response for that has been overwhelming... at this time of the year, especially going into the new year they (the Food Bank) need those resources."

The Santa run will go Thursday and Friday night starting at 5:30, with Santa starting on the east side of town on Thursday, starting at the north end and then heading south from there.
