Santa will be making an early stop in Blackfalds tonight and tomorrow, but this time instead of handing out gifts, he will be collecting donations for the food bank with help from the Blackfalds Fire Department.

Blackfalds Fire Chief Robert Cote says residents are able to easily track Santa's location in town.

“We have a GPS unit on the truck with Santa, and that gives us an idea of where we are, and how close we are to each home.”

Cote says unfortunately Santa won't be able to hear any Christmas wishes from good boys and girls this time around, as his main focus will be collecting from as many houses as possible.

“We try to keep Santa moving because of time restraints and that, and make sure we get to the most amount of homes within a reasonable amount of time. Sometimes we can, sometimes we can’t, but any donation will be greatly appreciated, and if we can, we will try to be accommodating.”

Tonight (Wed) Santa will be starting on the west side of the CP rail tracks, and heading north on Vista trail towards Aspen Lakes and working south down to Rolling Hills.

Tomorrow, (Thurs), Santa will continue through the downtown area, then head north to Cottonwood, and work his way south to Park St.

Both nights start around 5:15, and will continue until 9:30, or whenever all donations have been collected.
