For the past 35 years, the Red Deer County's Rural Beautification Tour has given local residents the chance to show off their unique and beautiful properties.

The tour takes place on July 26th, and will showcase homes from division four, which is in the Bowden and Innisfail area.

The tour will start at the CrossRoads Church, then passengers will be bused through the county, and picked back up in Innisfail at the end of the tour.

Community Services Assistant with Red Deer County Sylvia Bolkowy says a property must first be nominated to be included on the tour, and the winner is chosen by the people on the tour.

“We have two buses, and we fill them, and then they visit all the properties and then they vote on the properties. They vote on who would receive the Cliff Doan property as the overall winner, and then we have four separate categories.

The passengers on the bus would vote for their favourite small acreages, or large acreage, or working farms, or hamlet sub-division”.

She says there is no criteria to be fulfilled in order for a property to be nominated, and all of the properties are unique and worthy of attention.

All property being showcased will receive a hand carved cedar gate sign stating that they are part of the tour, while the overall winner will receive a trophy to keep for the year.
