From RCMP Major rimes Unit: Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 4:23pm: 

On November 9, Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to an incident at the Sunchild Gas Station.  A male victim died following an altercation.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed to take carriage of this investigation.  An autopsy was conducted today and the manner of death was deemed to be a homicide.

The incident occurred just before 9:00 p.m., when Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to a complaint of an altercation at the gas station.  One man was seriously injured and transported to the hospital where he later died.  Two other people suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The suspects involved in this altercation fled the gas station in a vehicle.  Neighbouring detachments were made aware of the incident.  The suspect vehicle was later located in the Drayton Valley Detachment area and an effort was made to conduct a traffic stop. After a spike belt was deployed the vehicle was disabled and came to a stop. Suspects fled from the vehicle on foot. Three subjects were later arrested by Drayton Valley RCMP.  They have not been connected to the homicide, however were connected with the vehicle.  Drayton Valley RCMP have an ongoing investigation into their involvement with the vehicle.

Another occupant of the suspect vehicle carjacked a truck driver at gunpoint and was taken to O’Chiese First Nation where he went to a residence.  The truck driver was not injured.

Two suspects were identified in relation to the homicide, one of whom was responsible for the carjacking. One suspect was arrested at the residence on the O’Chiese First Nation following a standoff involving the RCMP Emergency Response Team.  The second suspect was arrested by the Rocky Mountain House RCMP during a traffic stop. 

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit have laid charges in the death of 23-year-old Arley Creed Lagrelle as well as the assaults on other victims and the carjacking of the truck driver as follows:

29-year-old Evan Ernest Foureyes is charged with second degree murder, assault with a weapon and kidnapping.  He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on November 21 via CCTV.

25-year-old Jamie Jerome Tyler Whitford is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.  He has been remanded in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for November 14 in Red Deer via CCTV.

The investigation continues by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, Rocky Mountain House RCMP and Drayton Valley RCMP.

From RCMP Major rimes Unit: Sunday, November 11, 2018, 12:56pm: 

On Friday Nov. 9, 2018 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to report of an injured adult male at the Sunchild Gas Station on the Sunchild First Nation.

A male victim was involved in an altercation and suffered serious life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit were deployed and have taken carriage of the investigation.

Further investigation led police to a residence and surrounding area on the O’Chiese First Nation and several suspects were arrested and taken into custody with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team. No one was injured.  

The Major Crimes Unit along with Rocky Mountain House RCMP continue to investigate. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday Nov. 13, 2018 in Edmonton at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The police operation on the O’Chiese First Nation involving Emergency Response Team has now concluded.

Police have several people in custody from a residence and surrounding area and the investigation continues.

From Rocky Mountain House RCMP: November 10, 2018, 4:09pm:

Local RCMP advise that the RCMP Emergency Response Team is present in the area conducting an ongoing police operation with regards to an investigation that began early this morning.

The area is contained and RCMP have sufficient resources in place to ensure public safety. Local residents are asked to follow directions of RCMP on scene and not post updates of police locations to social media.

Traffic is not restricted to the area at this time but we request that motorists avoid area.
