Along with the help of friends and family, Curtis Glencross was able to present another cheque for the Ronald McDonald House Central Alberta and the Every Kid Every Community Program through the Hockey Alberta Foundation.

Every year the Glencross Invitational Charity Roughstock has elite bull, bronc, bareback riders and stock. Past CFR champions are there to entertain the crowd followed by a country music concert.

This year’s event was back on August 24 and in total they were able to raise $190,000 for the charities.

Glencross is a former NHL player with Alberta roots and he says he is happy to see the money go towards families in Alberta.

“I grew up playing hockey in Alberta and with the every kid every community program through the we want every kid that wants to play hockey, have that opportunity to play hockey and its astronomical how many kids haven’t gotten that opportunity.”

Presented by ATB financial and the Calgary Flames Foundation, they have raised over 1.3 million in total since it began in 2012.

“It’s a great honour for us to do this once again this year.”

Glencross says raising the money is one thing, doing it when the market isn’t prime is harder.

“With the economy the way it is right now and the economics out there it’s nice, were pretty thankful here in Alberta.”

Glencross adds that the Ronald McDonald House in Red Deer is always looking for volunteers to cook and clean up for families who are going through tough times.
