Lacombe has always a great appreciation for our rich military history, highlighted by the installation of the LAV III vehicle, as the centre piece of the Afghanistan Memorial, which was installed this summer.

With that in mind, the Remembrance Day ceremony tomorrow at 10:45am at the LMC should be quite full, so make sure you arrive early.

Vice President of Lacombe Legion Kathy Hobbs explains what's going on around town tomorrow.

“After the service if they come back to the Legion we supply a light luncheon for adults downstairs, there’s hot dogs for children upstairs, followed by a potluck supper at 5pm, where families bring enough food for themselves, and a plus one.”

Hobbs has spent this last week touring around the Lacombe area, bringing a condensed version of the Remembrance Day ceremony to those who are unable to attend the main one tomorrow.

“We’ve been to the Royal Oaks, the Senior Lodge, and the hospital where people who cannot make the Remembrance Day service, and that’s including children, we go out there, we have our colour party, we do our active remembrance.”
