UPDATE: March 18th

The MCU continue to actively investigate a homicide which occurred early on March 16.

There have been no arrests made, while the RCMP continue to gather evidence. Tips and public information are still being sought.

The name of the deceased adult male cannot be released at this time according to the provisions of the Federal Privacy Act.

Background story: March 16th, 2021

The Red Deer RCMP remain on scene in the area of 38 Avenue and 45 Street in what has been determined to be a homicide.

At 4:42 a.m. today, the RCMP responded to a 911 call, and located a deceased adult male on the road. The male is the victim of a gunshot wound.  The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has been deployed to take carriage of the investigation.

The area remains closed to vehicle traffic while the RCMP conduct an extensive scene examination. 

Evidence gathered on scene leads RCMP to believe that this is an isolated incident, and there is no risk to public safety.
