Over a six-day time period, Red Deer RCMP arrested numerous people who were wanted on outstanding warrants and/ or found to be breaching court-imposed conditions.

Several were located while committing criminal activity, while numerous others were picked up after it was determined they were breaching court-imposed conditions, including curfews and weapons prohibitions.

Another suspect was arrested in a store after assaulting staff with bear spray while attempting to steal merchandise.

“Red Deer RCMP routinely conduct conditions checks on those who are bound by the courts to comply with certain behavioural requirements, such as curfews, requirements to reside at a certain address, not to associate with known criminals, and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour,” said Inspector Gerald Grobmeier of the Red Deer RCMP.

“Further, RCMP are consistently out looking for those who are wanted on warrants. The message we’re sending is a straightforward one – if you aren’t complying with your conditions, if you continue to break the law, we’ll pick you up and put you before the courts. And we’ll do it again and again.”

The Red Deer RCMP’s continuous focus on conditions checks, outstanding warrants, policing of crime hot spots and increased patrols in various active areas throughout the city, including a concentrated focus on the downtown, are all tactics coming out of Project Pinpoint, Red Deer’s crime reduction strategy.

Red Deer RCMP encourage anyone with outstanding warrants to turn themselves in to the downtown Red Deer detachment at 4602 51 Avenue; please bring photo identification and be aware that it may take more than an hour for staff to process the paperwork and provide you with a court date.

Being proactive about any outstanding warrants could save you significant embarrassment or inconvenience in the future.

If you have general questions about the process required to resolve outstanding warrants, call the RCMP complaint line at 403-343-5575.

Front counter hours for the downtown detachment are Monday – Friday, 8 am – 6 pm, Saturday 8 am – 4 pm, and closed on Sundays.
