Red Deer Public Schools has released their COVID-19 Re-Entry, Recovery, and Resurgence Plan.

The school division intends to follow Alberta Education guidelines and will not be implementing further measures at this time. The Board will monitor and review COVID data and trends and make adjustments as needed in response to local conditions and trends.

“As we move into the new school year, we will continue to monitor and be responsive, when needed, as the year progresses and if local conditions change. We truly look forward to welcoming our students and staff back to school on September 1,” said Nicole Buchanan, Board Chair.

Masking will not be required by students and staff in the school and classroom setting. Masks will continue to be encouraged but not made mandatory.

“The Board’s decision regarding masks is reflective of the current provincial health guidelines and what we are seeing in our community,” said Buchanan. “While these are difficult decisions, our focus continues to be on what is best for teaching and learning for our students and staff.”

The school board will be following the guidelines contained within the Alberta Education 2021-2022 School Year Plan and Guidance for Respiratory Illness Prevention and Management in Schools
