Calling all runners who have no shame and want to raise money for a good cause.

The recently announced 100m Community Diaper Dash takes place during the Red Deer PCN Women's Fun Run on May 11th down at Lindsay Thurber High school.

Race Director Val Jensen says the Diaper Dash is a new edition to the run, and it's a way for individuals to pitch in any way they can for this good cause, with all proceeds going to the Mustard Seeds School Lunch program.

“I think a lot of it is thinking the community comes together in a small way makes a big difference, rather than saying, ‘Ok you’re a business and we want you to raise five or ten thousand dollars, or do things in a big way’, all the little stuff adds up to…ten dollars feeds a child for a week.”

Jensen says it'll be a fun twist on the annual event.

“And it might not just be a 100m dash, there might be the odd obstacle in there that might include some bread or apples, something. We’re not revealing that, but it’ll be a fun event for people to come out and watch right in the middle of the day.”

Participants will have to raise at least a thousand dollars to don some huggies, and wear the diaper somewhere on their body while they run.

Competing so far in the community diaper dash is Red Deer City Councillor Buck Buchanen and his daughter, Red Deer Public School Board member Nicole Buchanen.
