Feb 5th - Following a police investigation in a homicide which occurred on January 29, 2017 the RCMP have arrested 29-year-old Gerald Krahn.

On February 2, 2017 an arrest warrant was issued for Krahn and the RCMP pursued efforts to actively locate him.

On February 4 he was arrested in north Edmonton without incident.

A bail hearing has been held and Gerald Krahn has been remanded in custody to attend Provincial Court of Alberta in Breton, on February 8, 2017.

The RCMP is seeking to arrest a 29-year-old man on a charge of second degree murder in relation to the death of 36 year old Christopher O’Reilly of Warburg, who died on the night of Monday Jan. 30, after sustaining injuries in an incident which police now are investigating as a homicide.

An autopsy was completed this past Tuesday in which the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the manner of death to be homicide.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for 29 year old Gerald Peter KRAHN, formerly of Grande Prairie, who is wanted on one count of second degree murder in relation to the death of Christopher O’Reilly.

Krahn is considered to be armed and dangerous.

The RCMP would like caution the public that Krahn should not be approached if seen, but rather, if anyone does see him or knows of his whereabouts, they are encouraged to call the police immediately.

Krahn was last known to be staying in the Beaumont area but currently is of no fixed address.

The homicide investigation is ongoing with police resources from the Thorsby RCMP Detachment, Edmonton MCU and other specialized units of the RCMP.

Jan 30th - Last night, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Thorsby and Breton RCMP Detachments responded to a report of an injured man in the village of Warburg.

The man was transported to a hospital in Leduc, however, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has assumed carriage of the investigation and is awaiting the results of an autopsy which is to be conducted in Edmonton tomorrow at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police have identified the deceased as Christopher O'REILLY* (36) of Warburg.

The cause and manner of death have yet to be determined by the autopsy which is scheduled for Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing and is utilizing members from the Thorsby RCMP Detachment, the RCMP’s Edmonton MCU as well as its Forensic Identification Section (FIS). Police are processing the scene and conducting interviews of witnesses.

Warburg is located approximately 58 kilometres west of Leduc.
