May 28/18 - From Rocky Mountain House RCMP - The RCMP have located and arrested Cruz Bigchild on his outstanding arrest warrant.  His name and photo can be removed from social media. 

On May 27, 2018 at approximately 7:00 am, Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to a robbery at a store near Highway 22. The suspects entered the store and left with several bottles of liquor. The suspects fled in a White Dodge Ram. No one was harmed.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP located the suspect vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 752. The vehicle failed to stop for police and was also identified as being involved in a car jacking near Olds, AB. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and a pursuit ensued. A spike belt was deployed however, the suspect vehicle avoided the belt. The suspect vehicle then rammed into a police vehicle to change the direction of travel.  The suspect vehicle stopped south of Highway 11 on Highway 734. The two suspects were arrested without any further incident.

“Property crimes and the risks associated with attempting to stop stolen vehicles are everyone’s concern, and we’re grateful for the close collaboration with our neighbouring detachments,” said Sergeant Jay Penner. “That continuing support and sharing of intelligence is crucial to our success in combatting property crimes.”  Cruz Bigchild, a 21-year-old from Sunchild First Nations has been charged with the following:

  • Sect. 249.1(1) – Criminal Code – Flight from Police
  • Sect.249(1) – Criminal Code – Dangerous Operation 
  • Sect. 270.01(1) – Criminal Code – Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon (X2)
  •  Sect. 334(b) – Criminal Code – Theft under $5000
  • Sect. 259(4) – Criminal Code – Operation while Disqualified 
  • Sect. 88 – Criminal Code – Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose 
  • Sect. 145(3) – Criminal Code – Fail to Comply with Recognizance (X8)

Cruz Bigchild was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Rocky Mountain House Provincial Court on June 6, 2018.

Shaeden Muskeg, an 18-year-old from O’Chiese First Nation has been charged with the following:

  • ·Sect. 249.1(1) – Criminal Code – Flight from Police
  • ·Sect.249(1) – Criminal Code – Dangerous Operation 
  • ·Sect. 270.01(1) – Criminal Code – Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon (X2)
  • ·Sect. 334(b) – Criminal Code – Theft under $5000
  • ·Sect. 145(3) – Criminal Code – Fail to comply with recognizance

Shaeden Muskeg was released on a recognizance with conditions and is scheduled to appear in Rocky Mountain House Provincial Court on June 13, 2018.As this matter is now before the courts no further information will be made available.

May 24/18 - From Rocky Mountain House RCMP - The RCMP continue to require public assistance in locating 21-year-old Cruz Bigchild.

Public tips have been received but to date, his location has not been confirmed.  It is likely that someone knows his whereabouts and can help the RCMP.

Bigchild is described as:         

  • First Nation
  • 5’5” tall
  • Slim build – 145 pounds
  • Black hair
  • Brown Eyes

The RCMP have located and arrested Shaeden Muskeg on his outstanding arrest warrant.  

21-year-old Cruz Bigchild is still being sought by the RCMP.

From Rocky Mountain House RCMP: May 4th, 2018.

The RCMP are actively trying to locate two males who are wanted on arrest warrants, and are considered to be a danger to the public.  Public assistance is being sought in locating them.

21-year-old Cruz Bigchild is wanted on a warrant for arrest for charges stemming out of Rocky Mountain House.

18-year-old Shaeden Muskeg is wanted on an arrest warrant for charges stemming out of a break enter that occurred in Drayton Valley on April 15.

Both men are believed to be on either the Sunchild or O’Chiese First Nation and are believed to be actively evading the RCMP.
