The RCMP Major Crimes Unit South (MCU) have laid charges against two adult males and two adult females in relation to a homicide which occurred on April 11 at a residence on the Samson Cree Nation.

At 2:15 a.m., on April 11, Maskwacis RCMP responded to a complaint of a disturbance in the residence.  Attending members located an adult male who appeared to be seriously injured.  EMS attended and at approximately 2:50 a.m., pronounced the victim, 34-year-old Jonathan Wallace Nepoose, deceased.

RCMP MCU South took carriage of the investigation with the assistance of Red Deer Forensic Identification Section and the Maskwacis and Wetaskiwin RCMP.  Five adults were initially detained at the residence, without incident.

On April 12 in the morning an autopsy was conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton. 

26-year-old Jayson Griffith Soosay and 25-year-old Percy Levon Soosay, both of Maskwacis, have each been charged with Second Degree Murder.

21-year-old Madison Rochelle Ward and 20-year-old Taylor Alyssa Threefingers, both of Maskwacis have each been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.

All four accused have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on April 17.

The fifth adult who was initially detained at the residence has been released from custody with no charges.

The investigation into this homicide continues with the assistance of RCMP Units including the Forensic Identification Section.  Investigational details will not be provided by the RCMP.
