A number of recent property crime arrests by Red Deer RCMP have resulted in numerous charges and the execution of multiple warrants, and in many cases were thanks to the vigilance of staff at various businesses and members of the public who called RCMP to report suspected criminal activity.

Shortly before 4 pm on November 9, RCMP were called to a bank in the city, where a man was in the process of attempting to open an account with identification the caller believed was not his.

RCMP attended and confirmed that the suspect was in possession of three pieces of identification that had been reported stolen in a wallet theft several months earlier in Red Deer.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was also wanted on four outstanding warrants for assault, forcible confinement and failing to appear in court.

41 year old William Joseph Lagrelle faces the following charges:

· Criminal Code 403(1)(a) – Identity fraud
· Criminal Code 402.2(1) – Identity theft
· Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer
· Criminal Code 354 – Possession of stolen property under $5,000 X 3
· Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions

Lagrelle appeared in court in Red Deer on November 16 at 9:30 am.

Shortly after 9 pm on November 10, RCMP attended 5405 50 Avenue in response to a report of suspicious activity.

Staff in the business on the main floor reported hearing sounds from the suite above, which was unoccupied.

RCMP located two suspects who were both wanted on a number of outstanding warrants and arrested them without incident.

45 year old Joel David Bremner was wanted on three warrants at the time of his arrest under the Trespass to Premise Act, the Gaming and Liquor Act, and for failing to attend (fingerprints).

He now faces the following additional charges:

· Trespass to Premise Act – section 3
· CDSA 4(1) – Possession of schedule 1 substance (methamphetamine)
· Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000

Bremner will appear in court in Red Deer on November 23 at 9:30 am.

33 year old Aaron James LeBlanc was arrested on three outstanding warrants for assault and uttering threats.

Shortly before 9 am on November 11, RCMP were called to a residence in Eastview when a caller reported suspicious activity at a neighbouring property.

RCMP attended and located the suspect several blocks from the scene, where he was arrested without incident.

During the course of the investigation, RCMP determined that nine garages had been broken into in the space of a few hours within a two block radius in Eastview.

Much of the stolen property was located stacked in an alley, and was returned to the victims. RCMP continue to investigate.

31 year old Lincoln Charles Capel faces the following charges:

· Criminal Code 348(1)(b) – Breaking, entering and committing (an indictable offense)
· Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions
· CDSA 4(1) – Possession of schedule 1 substance X 2

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on seven outstanding warrants for failing to comply with conditions (X 5), break and enter, and mischief.
Capel will appear in court in Red Deer on November 29 at 9:30 am.

At 5:30 am on November 13, RCMP responded to a break-in in progress at Bad Ass Jack’s on 67 Street, where police located and arrested a suspect as he attempted to leave the business carrying a cash register and various food products from the restaurant.

38 year old Kyle Kevin Vaine faces the following charges:

· Criminal Code 348(1)(b) – Breaking, entering and committing (an indictable offense)
· Criminal Code 334(b) – Theft under $5,000
· Criminal Code 351(1) – Possession of break-in tools
· Criminal Code 145(5.1) – Fail to comply with an undertaking
Vaine will appear in court in Red Deer on November 22 at 9:30 am.
