The Lacombe Fish and Game Association recently went to Lacombe County with their proposal to build an indoor target range for their members to enjoy.

Lacombe Mayor Grant Creasey spoke on behalf of the Fish and Game Association at a County Council meeting at the end of September, and he explains what this facility would be primarily used for.

“The Association (Fish and Game) have had a long standing desire to build a target facility, and it’s been an ongoing issue to find an appropriate location for it. We will have quite a variety of use; we’ve got a longer range, up to 100 meters for rifles. Then we got a shorter range with what I believe is ten lanes, for hand guns and for archery.”

The proposed range has not been met with any objections so far, from Lacombe County, Canadian Pacific Rail, or the Town of Blackfalds.  Their next step is to speak with Alberta Transportation regarding some additional approvals before moving forward.

The proposed site is just south of Lacombe, adjacent to Highway 2A, in between the CP Rail line and the C&E Trail right of way.
