Residents are advised that the City of Lacombe, through its property assessment provider Powers and Associates Appraisal Services Inc., will begin annual inspections of properties on August 2, 2017, to collect the data necessary to complete annual property assessments.

“Our goal is to have a quarter of the city inspected each year, resulting in the whole city being inspected every four years to ensure property assessment information remains current,” said Chief Administrative Officer Dion Pollard.

“Our assessors will be working in the area mainly west of 58 Street, from Highway 12 to slightly north of Woodland Drive,” said Financial Services Manager Justin de Bresser. “They will not be in the new Shepherd Heights subdivision as it is so new we are already collecting the information there.”

Please refer to the map below in the link for more information on this year’s inspection areas.

Property assessors will gather detailed information about each property by making on-site visits or by corresponding with the owner of the property.

Assessors will carry City of Lacombe photo identification.

A property inspection is conducted so that all characteristics of a property that affect its assessment are taken into consideration when the assessor determines the property value.

All newly constructed properties require an inspection.

Likewise, existing properties need to be reviewed from time to time to ensure that the information used to create the property’s assessment remains current.
