A Red Deer woman is making it easy for people to become more aware of how to identify an emergency situation and how to react in the event care is needed for animals.

Pam Connelly is the owner-operator of Red Deer Pet First Aid to offer a course designed to teach the basics of animal emergency care until someone with advanced training is present.

She says her course has become quite popular with trainers and kennel workers for many reasons, “we learn how to bandage foot pads, a cut tail or ear, we also learn CPR which is a pretty major situation if it were to occur.”

Connelly teams up with Central Alberta Humane Society and Alberta Animal Rescue to give real on hand training to her students.

“People get to practice on live animals... it’s nice for everyone, they get to meet the adoptable animals and the animals get some attention.
