The city of Lacombe is getting ready to send out representatives out door to door to collect census information.

Director of Corporate services, Diane Piche says many people are willing to give their information but aren't sure what happens with it.

“All we want to do is account for the number of people in the community,” she explains, “this will give us a number that we can use for our grants, things like our roads and our MSI grants, they are all based on our population.”

She says council needs accurate Up-to-date population information in order to ensure federal and provincial grant funding gets split accordingly.

“The Census this year is very simple, all were going to be doing is walking up to the door and asking people how many people they’ve got living there, were not going to be asking any other questions.”

Piche says this year’s census is simple, the only question they need answered is how many people live in the house.

Council will be conducting the census information April 2 – June 20, and the results will be submitted to the Province before September 1.
