Town Administration and Council in Ponoka heard some ideas and thoughts for future development for land lining highway 53 to the west, at an open house yesterday.
Work is underway to develop a plan to help guide future subdivision and development of the 480 hectares of prime land according to Director of Planning and Development Tim Schmidt.
"It's adjacent to highway 2, just on the east side of highway 2, travels along highway 53 to the intersection of highway 53 and highway 2A".
He adds input from yesterday's open house is key ahead of drafting a West Area Structure Plan.
"Before we actually come forward with a plan, we want to take a look at all the background information, data and listen to landowners, public agencies and any other affected parties before coming back with a proposed plan and policies".
The plan area also includes some land in the south east industrial park.
