A Lacombe County peace officer noticed a pick-up truck attempting to pull another pick-up truck out of a ditch near Township Road 412 and Range Road 271 on October 1st, 2020.

One of the trucks rammed into the front of the peace officer’s vehicle while he was still inside. The truck then fled the scene.

A civilian exited their vehicle to check on the officer when the second suspect later identified as a 32-year-old male stole the civilian’s vehicle and fled the scene.

The other 28-year-old suspect returned to the site and attempted to hit the officer with his truck but the Peace Officer managed to avoid getting injured. The 28-year-old fled heading eastbound on Range Road 412. The peace officer later attended a hospital and was treated for minor injuries and was released.

Additional RCMP aid was requested and were deployed in search of the suspects. The suspects were noted several times on Highway 11 and Highway 2. One vehicle was abandoned and another was stolen near Innisfail.

Later on, RCMP were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device and disabled the stolen vehicle that the 28-year-old was driving.
