From Innisfail RCMP:

On December 7, 2018, at approximately 730 am, a lone Innisfail RCMP member observed a vehicle parked at the Esso gas station in Penhold, Alta.  

Police observed a vehicle parked at the pumps and the license plate on the vehicle was confirmed by police to be stolen.  

When police attempted to arrest the lone male driver he refused to comply and attempted to drive away.  

Police was forced to break the driver side window and an altercation ensued which resulted in some customers at the store responding to assist the lone police officer.  

The male was successfully removed from the vehicle and arrested without further incident.  

There were no injuries resulting from this incident. The vehicle the male was driving was also confirmed by police as stolen.

35-year-old Shaun Paul Martin of Ottawa, Ont. Has been charged with:

  • ·Possess stolen property over $5000
  • ·Obstruct Police
  • ·Resist arrest
  • ·Drive without subsisting drivers license
  • ·Operate uninsured motor vehicle
  • ·Fail to stop for police

Martin has been remanded to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on December 12, 2018, at 9:30 am.
