Update:

Red Deer RCMP have sworn charges against one man in connection with an armed robbery at a Kentwood convenience store on December 5 and are looking for public assistance to identify the second male suspect.

19 year old Austin Pollock of Blackfalds faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 344(b) – Armed robbery
  • Criminal Code 88(1) – Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Criminal Code 351(2) – Wear disguise with intent to commit offence

Austin Pollock was scheduled to make his first appearance in court in Red Deer on December 6 at 9:30 am.

RCMP have obtained surveillance photos of the second suspect in this robbery and are asking for public assistance to identify him. The suspect is described as a skinny Caucasian male, approximately 6 feet tall. He wore a face covering and a hoodie during the armed robbery but subsequently shed his disguise as he fled police on foot through the Edgar Industrial Park between 8:00 and 9:30 am

Red Deer RCMP have one in custody after a Kentwood convenience store was robbed by two masked men wielding a machete and pepper spray this morning.

Shortly before 8 am on December 5, RCMP responded to a 911 call after two men entered the Running on Empty store on Kent Street wielding a machete and pepper spray and demanding cash and cigarettes.

RCMP responded immediately with Police Dog Services and began to track the suspects through the Kentwood neighbourhood and a nearby industrial area.

Within 20 minutes police had located the first suspect, a 19 year old man, and taken him into custody without incident. Store staff were not injured in this robbery.

Red Deer RCMP continue to search for the second suspect and will issue an update as further arrests are made and once the charges against the man in custody are sworn before the courts.
