What seems to be happening a lot lately, a golf course just north of Lacombe is hoping to expand through the addition of an RV campsite.

The Nursery Golf Course and Country Club are planning on adding 31 seasonal RV camping lots, a washroom/shower facility and a caretaker suite.

Before that can happen, the 160 acre lot needs to be rezoned from Agricultural to Recreation, a decision which will come from Lacombe County.

Manager of the golf course Karl Dillman said it’s an opportunity they want to jump on.

“We talked about it for years and years and now it seems to be the trend. Everybody is doing RV park developments and stuff to go with their golf course. It just provides that extra source of income.”

Not only is it a potential money maker, Dillman said it’s a demand that needs to be met.

“There are waiting lists everywhere for RV parks. If we can alleviate some of that waitlist for other people, it benefits us, it benefits the general public and it benefits the other RV parks around as well. So they’re not having big waiting lists.”

The owners are holding an open house at their clubhouse on October 19 at 1 p.m., inviting the public to provide feedback on their proposal.
