Some key figures in Alberta sports assembled at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame on Friday.

An afternoon conference was held to announce the selected candidates who are now inductees in the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.

Twelve inductees in total were present at the conference.

Now named the Class of 2018, each inductee had a chance to briefly speak about their experiences and journey to fame.

Among those selected, former member of the Calgary Flames, Theoren Fleury was there.

Grateful for being selected, he claimed that his success was a result of uncompromising self-belief.

"Anyone out there that hears that 'noise' all the time, just turn it off. Don't listen to it, because at the end of the day, if you believe in yourself, there's nothing you can't achieve in life."

Other inductees included Cindy Klassen, Robert Davies, and the 1989-1990 Calgary Colts.
