With the help of his classmates a Grade 6 student at Normandeau Elementary School in Red Deer held a fundraiser last week, in support of his mother who is battling multiple sclerosis.

The goal was $800, and through a week-long toonie drive and a bake sale, Taylor Teuling achieved his goal.

His mom Jodi McCutcheon-Teuling , who’s an assistant at the school, has been absent due to MS symptoms, so Taylor decided to share their story with his class, through a presentation.

“I just feel that it’s important that people know what MS is because it’s not always talked about so I figured I should tell the Grade 6’s in my class what it’s about and what I’m going through with my mom.”

Jody said she’s extremely proud of her sons support.

“He just wanted to let his classmates know why I hadn’t been at the school , because I’ve been volunteering at the school since September and all of a sudden I was no longer around to help out anymore.”

Proceeds are going directly to the MS Society in Red Deer.
