From the Penhold Fire Department:

On February 14 around 3:20pm Penhold Fire Fighters were dispatched to a structure fire in a single family house on Windsor Crescent.

Acting Fire Lieutenant Baily McKay said " we gained entry and made sure all the occupants were out and safe. Firefighters then found fire in a main floor bedroom and achieved a quick knockdown".

Acting Fire Lieutenant Ryan O'Donoghue said " the fire was mostly in the ceiling and on one bed and we contained the fire to the room of origin".

Fire Captain Sean Pendergast said " the insulation was cellulose so we had a lot of overhaul to do".

Fire Chief Jim Pendergast said "it was a great job by the firefighters, a very quick knockdown. The occupants had smelled smoke throughout the day, left the home and when they came back noticed that the snow was melting on the roof and saw a large black patch inside the bedroom on the ceiling. "

There were 2 adults and 7 children in the home at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries, and the cause is under investigation and there is no damage estimate yet.

19 firefighters and 7 units responded along with Guardian EMS, Peace Officers, Public Works, Atco Gas and Fortis.
