Sylvan Lake will soon be recruiting community members to take part in a committee tasked to put a new Festival and Events Strategy into motion.

Work started on that strategy last year thanks to some funding from Alberta Culture and Tourism, with one main focus in mind according to Mayor Sean McIntyre.

“To expand our festivals and events to the fall, winter and spring.  Summers are busy in Sylvan Lake and we’re really happy that everyone can join us and celebrate the warm weather and the beautiful setting that we have here in Sylvan Lake, and now we have rolling out a more specific plan to broaden out those offerings to increase community spirit, and pride and engagement in our community”.

McIntyre says they've now transferred the budget they had earmarked for next year, to this year, to get the wheels in motion sooner.

They'll now be reaching out to event planners, local community groups and residents at large to help influence and make those event goals a reality.
