A 34-year-old Maskwacis man was arrested yesterday and charged with second degree murder in relation to the death of Justin Eagle (45) who died at the Wetaskiwin Hospital on the night of Saturday, August 26, 2016, after being found with severe injuries in an apartment stairwell earlier that same night in Wetaskiwin.  

An autopsy conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton on August 29, determined that the manner of Mr. Eagle’s death was homicide.

Investigators from the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) have been working on the case from the outset with assistance from the Wetaskiwin RCMP Detachment and the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section (FIS). 

Yesterday morning, police arrested Dustin Walter Okeymow (34) without incident.  He has been charged with one count of second degree murder in connection with Justin Eagle’s death.

Dustin Walter Okeymow is scheduled to appear in Ponoka Provincial Court on Friday, September 15, 2017.  

Additional details about this investigation will not be provided by the RCMP at this time as the matter is now before the courts.
