Red Deer RCMP are asking for public assistance to identify the man who broke into an apartment in a seniors complex in the Anders neighbourhood the morning of April 3 and stole cash from the resident’s purse while she was in the apartment.

Shortly after 8 am on April 3, RCMP responded to a report that a man with a knife had entered the apartment of an 81 year old woman who lives at the Victoria Park seniors residence.

The victim surprised the suspect, who fled the room with cash he had taken from her purse, dropping a knife on his way out.

The victim was not injured during this incident, but EMS attended and transported her to hospital to ensure her health; she was released again shortly afterward.

The suspect is described as:

· Caucasian
· Slim build
· Approximately 5’9” tall
· Wearing a big parka, tinted glasses and dark pants

RCMP searched the area but the suspect was gone on arrival.
