After a bit of spring, all of summer, and a little bit of fall, construction on main street is just about finished, and it is expected to be opened up to traffic by the end of today (Wednesday).

City Engineering Services Manager Jordan Thompson says residents may have noticed paving crews out yesterday, which is the last big step before vehicles will be allowed back on.

“It’s almost the final step, it’s the final major milestone. Following paving we have line paint, temporarily line paint has to go on the road, street lights, and landscaping to cap off the project for 2017.”

The top lift and final lift of pavement won't be applied until next year, but main street will be open again once the temporarily lines are painted, which Thompson expects to be by the end of today.
