It's Ponoka turns for a trade show this weekend, which opens at 3pm this afternoon (April 27th) at the Arena Complex.

The Nigerian Olympic Bobsled will be on hand, it was wrapped by Lacombe business Strand Media, and used in the Winter Games in South Korea.

President of Strand Media Bruce Clarke says they are proud to display the bobsled at the trade show, and he hopes to have more chances to show off their work on the international stage.

“Well I would love to do it but the Olympics only come around once every 4 years. So we’ve done the Australians, we’ve done the Canadians, we’ve done the Nigerians, we’ll see what comes up in four years time.”

You can take a selfie with the bobsled at the tradeshow for a toonie, with all the money raised going towards KidSport.

The Ponoka Police Advisory Committee will also be there, and as Chair Debbie Hycha explains, it's a great opportunity for them to introduce the public to this newly formed committee, and provide them with a voice on public safety and crime prevention matters.

She explains what they've been up to since they were formed about a year ago.

“What we have been working on in the past year has been municipal bylaws. We’ve been reviewing them to see how relevant they are, if they need any tweaking, if there’s any changes. We will be looking at adding on anything we need to. We do have some input on the impending marijuana legislation.”

You can also go online to fill out a short survey regarding the Police Advisory Committee, by going to the towns website, Ponoka.ca.

There's a chance to speak with members of Town Council as well, with a Coffee with Council event happening at the trade show tomorrow from noon until 2:30.
