Bridges Community Living is currently running a fundraiser to help their residents in tough financial situations stay clean. They are accepting hygiene products to help those in need as part of their Healthy Hygiene Program.

“It's a program that that helps out those people who are just coming into our residences, or some of those who are already in there who are just having a little bit of trouble and just need a few things, and so those products are there for them to ask for at no charge,” explained Brent LaBrosse, Fund Development Coordinator for Bridges Community Living.

Bridges Community Living provides low-income living to more than 600 seniors in the Red Deer area.

So far, the organization has seen much support from local grocery stores and churches in Red Deer but they are still accepting donations.

The organization is looking for products such as:

  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Hairbrushes
  • Deodorant
  • Feminine hygiene pads
  • Dental floss

Donations can be brought to Piper Creek Lodge at 4820 33 Street, Red Deer from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 AM to 4 PM. A hamper for donations can be located between the two main doors.

If you are unable get to Piper Creek Lodge, you can help out Bridges Community Living by an online donation. The organization is also collecting monetarydonations to purchase their residents communication devices.

“Bridges just sent out to a funding request letter to about 15,000 homes in Red Deer saying if you can help us out with a donation to help us purchase stuff like tablets, iPhones, and iPads so that some of our seniors who are living within our buildings can communicate with their families. Then, their families can communicate with them because a lot of them don't have a technology don't and can't afford a cell phone,” explained LaBrosse.

LaBrosse says the organization has had a good response from the letters, but hopes to see even more support in the coming weeks.
