The Wolf Creek Public School community is mourning the sudden loss of long time Superintendent Larry Jacobs.

Jacobs leaves behind quite the legacy in Central Alberta, touching many lives in his time with Clearview Public Schools, the Wild Rose School Division and his last 12 years with Wolf Creek, having just retired last spring.

Current Superintendent Jayson Lovell explains what motivated Jacob's career in education "Larry was incredibly determined to ensure that all students benefited from quality instruction, he was very knowledgeable and passionate about current research and best practices in education.  He had a visionary focus in education that was really respected and understood both at the division level, but also at the provincial level.  Larry was the President of CASS - the College of Alberta School Superintendents and he served in that role admirably."

Lovell says "he will be remembered as a person who was very committed and passionate about education.  He was always trying to find ways to enhance the work that we did as a district and ultimately impact students and their experience in our schools and he did that with incredible conviction and just a dedicated approach".

Larry Jacobs was 69.
