A local filmmaker was recognized as one of Central Alberta’s most promising, upcoming artist.

Rueben Tschetter CEO of CACHE Productions in Red Deer, received Red Deer Arts Council’s Emerging Artist Award.

The award is meant to encourage promising artists early in their careers, while serving to raise the Arts profile by stimulating, developing and promoting the arts in Red Deer.

Tschetter said the news was extremely exciting.

‘It’s awesome to be recognized by your community for the work that you do.”

“I think  the Red Deer Arts Council is a really good organization in recognizing all the people who put a pile of passion in the work they do.”

Tschetter has produced over 25 short films and video since 2012 and said the award is something that really motivates him.

“The recoginition is great, it inspires me to keep going, you know because there are days when you’re sitting there saying ‘what is the point, why don’t I just get a job?’ so every little bit helps.”

Tschetter is set to release five more short films this summer and says his long term goal is to bring more recognition to the filmmaking industry in Central Alberta.
