The Santa Clause Parade, Moonlight Madness, and the Mingle and Jingle Tradeshow are some of the favourite events Lacombians at Light up the Night, which is coming back for its 7th years next week.

The 7th annual Light up the Night event is back again next week, and organizers said thank you to some of the major sponsors today(November 16th), by treating them to a lunch at the LMC.

Community Economic Development Manager with the City of Lacombe Guy Lapointe says none of this would be possible without sponsors and volunteers.

“We’re always looking for volunteers; the big thing for me is the parade. It’s such a great thing, it’s one of the only ones that happen in Central Alberta at this point, so we want people to come out and watch, but we also want people to come out and get involved. So whether or not you have a float or whether or not you want to come in and do some crowd control, help us on that side of things, I’m always open to suggestions.”

Lapointe says he wants to see everyone in the community come out and enjoy themselves, especially for the parade.

“We could always add people on (volunteers), but the big thing for me is to see people getting involved with the parade because that’s the community coming together, we come down to the LMC we turn on those lights, and there’s thousands of people down here.”

Stantec is one of the main sponsors of the event, and Lapointe says they recently agreed to not only increase their contribution, but they also signed on for three more years.

Light up the night takes place from November 22nd to the 26th, with the Santa Clause Parade being next Thursday at 6pm.
