Lacombe is well known for supporting local at all times during the year, but over the holiday’s is when they really shine.

The Passport to Christmas program is a great example of that, this year growing by $733,500.

Helen Peck with the Chamber says that this program really is a nice advantage for businesses’, but also residents to keep the local economy thriving.

“You are supporting your fellow neighbour and your friends, there are lots of places to shop at in Lacombe that people don’t realize are very unique gift items.”

A total of $3,662,100 was spent this year in the program alone. Not including the amount that was spent on those not participating in Passport to Christmas.

The draw was made on December 31, 2018, love on-air at Sunny 94.1 at 1:20 pm.

Peck says the response from Lacombian’s is always great and it’s nice to see everyone supporting each other.

“Well, the numbers prove it right? Not everyone does the passport to Christmas program so this wasn’t actually the total that was spent here.”

The winners of the Lacombe bucks were:

Linda Motley- $250

Jane Mckee- $500

Sheila Chapman- $750

Tarin Bos- $1500

“It’s great for our community, it’s wonderful, were supporting Lacombe,” says Peck.

There were a total of 77 participating businesses as well as 12,207 passports returned from the 7th annual program.
