A Lacombe resident is doing her part to make the lives of kids battling cancer a little easier.

June Miller is collecting hair from around the community to send to a company in Langley British Columbia that supply wigs to a hospital in Edmonton.

Hair 360 is a volunteer-run organization that makes wigs and works with Stollery Children's Hospital who then provides wigs to kids with cancer throughout Alberta.

Miller came up with the idea when thinking of ways to pay respects to her late mother, who suffered from severe hair loss.

“All my hair will be donated to 360 and I’ve been collecting other hair from people in Lacombe who have also cut their hair and I have a few more that are getting their haircut shortly so we can all package it up together,” said Miller.

So far, Miller has collected five hair donations, with five more commitments. She said she would love for more people to help out.

“If you are thinking about doing it, even if it’s just eight inches, it can make the difference, for a kid to feel normal.”

“It would be really nice if more people would step up.”

Miller had her haircut done for free over the weekend at Dye Hard Hair Salon, who is in full support of her efforts.

Owner of Dye Hard, Nicole Clough, will be collecting as much hair as she can for Miller.
