Despite what could be considered a rather difficult economy for generosity, the Lacombe Food Bank was able to keep up to their food drives held in the previous years this past holiday season.

Millie Snow, General Manager of Lacombe Community Food Drive and Thrift Store, says that donations were smaller this year, but that it was made up for by a larger number of people donating.

“I think we got as much food as we normally do but just from more people. Our annual drive was down, and some of the other drives that they normally do were down a little bit from last year but with more people involved, it probably brought it up again,” said Millie Snow about this years’ food drives.

However, hunger does not stop at the end of the holidays. Millie Snow believes “We will probably be good until about March and then things come slower, and the shelves get empty, and that sort of stuff.”

In the meantime, the Lacombe Food Bank is always in need of supplies for student lunches such as food like:

  • Juice boxes
  • Fruit cups
  • Granola bars
  • Peanut butter
  • Jam

The Lacombe Food Bank would also like to thank all families for their generosity this holiday season and in helping in keeping their numbers up for donations this year.
