Jon From with the Lacombe Flying Club says he's still speechless following the final tally of the dollars they raised for the Lacombe Food Bank through their holiday Twinkle Tours.

For the second year in a row the Club offered nighttime holiday light sightseeing flights for a $50 donation to the Lacombe Food Bank.

"We managed to raise $11,750 for the Lacombe Food Bank; our goal was actually to raise $5000.  Thanks to the overwhelming response from the community, we managed to more than double what our goal for this year was; it's more than 4 times what we raised last year".

From says it was a busy few weeks with 10 pilots pitching in to fly 9 airplanes for the tours "I would like to send a special thank-you out to the members of the Lacombe Flying Club, especially the ones that donated their time and their airplanes to fly all of these tours as well as the Lacombe Flying Club itself for paying for all the gas, it's not a small amount of money, costs a fair bit of money to keep these planes flying".

From says they did also experience a number of weather delays with around 15 nights that they needed to rebook flights.
