An upcoming meeting is being held in hopes to gain more volunteers for crime prevention in Lacombe.

With crime rates at a higher than normal rate, the Lacombe Community Watch Association says it's the job of the community to take control over Lacombe's communities.

Audrey Brown, a volunteer with the association says the meeting on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:00 will be a good time to get more information on how to help.

“Crime prevention is a community problem, and I think the more eyes and ears we have the more that it will help deter crime within the community,” says Brown.

The meeting will be in the community boardroom of the Lacombe police station and they will talk about the Block Parent Program, Neighbourhood Watch, as well as Citizens on Patrol.

Brown explains, “when we're out on patrol for citizens on patrol, they are looking, they are going through back alleys, neighbourhoods, and business parking lots, just keeping an eye out for everybody.”
