Lacombe County has approved funding for 15 different Canada 150 celebration events in our region.

The County had set aside 50 thousand dollars to help fund birthday celebrations in different municipalities across their jurisdiction.

They've now approved about $40,000, and Reeve Paula Law explains what the plans are for the extra money left over.

"There's an extra $10,000 that's within the Counties proper itself. So if other groups missed our deadline, but fall into the requirements, then they'll be eligible for that remaining funding."

4 organizations from Lacombe applied for funding for their events, but each group won't be receiving the full dollar figure they had requested.

Law explains why each event will get less than the amount they had asked for.

"There were a number of groups that did apply, plus we set aside a portion of the budget out for each municipality in the County. So we had a cap on each, and tried helping out each group. The goods news though, is that I've heard from each group and they're very appreciative of the funding and thought it was a good idea."

LAPA received funding for their event at M.E Global Athletic Park on July 1st.

Lacombe Tourism for Canada Fire Works, the Performing Arts Foundation for Music in the Park, and Lacombe Days for their annual parade.
