At their regular meeting yesterday, Council approved Municipal Election Bylaw 426, and directed City administration to conduct the 2017 Municipal Election jointly with Wolf Creek School Division No. 72 and St. Thomas Aquinas Roman (STAR) Catholic Separate Regional Division #38, should their school boards require such services.

‘‘For the 2017 election, two advanced polls will be established, along with institutional voting stations at the Lacombe Senior Citizen’s Lodge and at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre,’’ said Corporate Services Director Michael Minchin.

‘‘A mobile poll for incapacitated voters by prior appointment will also be set up.’’

‘‘In response to concerns from electors during the previous election, the City has moved the first advanced poll forward to September 30,’’ said Director Minchin.

The Municipal Election Bylaw 426 is largely based on requirements of the Local Authorities Election Act and the bylaws of other Alberta municipalities using identical automated voting systems to the system used by the City of Lacombe.
