2 people were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation following an early morning mobile home fire just northwest of Lacombe.

Fire crews from Lacombe and Bentley responded around 4:30 am to the rural property on Range Road 27-0, the Duckett Road, north of the Nursery Golf Course, near Township 41-2, the Milton intersection.

Lacombe Deputy Fire Chief Eric Graham explains what they arrived to.

“Significant flames showing on arrival, the property is fairly large, based on the size of the fire though what we could gather was there was a mobile home on fire and various other contents in proximity to that mobile home on the property that were involved in fire”.

He says the home and those contents in the area were a complete loss.

In terms of those additional contents, Lacombe Captain Eric Nicholas offers some insight.

"Another structure that was on scene as well, it's an old, we're presuming abandoned house, but like a storage building".

Many heard the early morning sirens as Graham says they shuttled water from Lacombe to help fight the blaze.

“It was significant enough that we needed to do some water shuttling so with these properties out here it’s not uncommon that we’re doing water shuttle operations to make sure we have enough water to extinguish the fire, so in this case there was a lot of fuel load, a lot of contents that were on fire which required numerous shuttles of water”.

The 2 people taken to hospital were living in the mobile home; Graham says some dogs remain unaccounted for.

Fire crews from Lacombe and Bentley remain on the scene of a trailer fire just northwest of Lacombe.

Lacombe Fire was dispatched out about 4:30 am to an outside fire that was upgraded to a single wide trailer on fire.

The rural property is on Range Road 27-0, the Duckett Road, north of the Nursery Golf Course.

The trailer was fully involved when crews arrived.

More to come.
