A local band has recently taken themselves a step further in the music industry. Central Alberta’s own HAAZE recently released their first album called "Swamp Mama."

It has 6 songs the guys have been working hard to create.

The members of HAAZE are from Lacombe area and have done projects and shows in Central Alberta to gain a following; including creating a music video through a grant they received.

Drummer of the band, Alex Adamson says the recording of this album happened because of a sound guy at a show they were performing at.

“Over the course of a year, we had recorded all of our material. One of our sound guys came up to us at one of our shows and said he wanted to record us but we had already recorded everything we had,” explains Adamson.

He says they scrambled to come up with some new ideas, but once they had they felt as though they couldn’t stop.

“We had to make some new stuff right quickly, so that was the first session and then the last half of the album was recorded in another session.”

They paid for the second half out of pocket in order to ensure they had enough to consider it being special for an album.

Adamson says the experience has been pretty intense, saying they have gained more publicity and have their own record label through Transistor 66 Records out of Manitoba.

“I am fully satisfied as a member of the band, of the stuff that is on this record, each song is exactly how I’d want it to be.”

The bands' full album can be found on any music streaming site, like Spotify or Apple Music. A CD or Vinyl can be bought at any of their shows.

Adamson says they are proud of what they created.

“It’s not too polished, it’s fresh, something that I would listen to over and over even after having to hear it a million times.”

Adamson says they have a few shows coming up over the weekend: in Edmonton at Bohemia on January 17, in Red Deer at the Vat on January 18 and in Calgary at Upper Deck Public House on January 19 and 20.
