On July 31st 2017 at approximately 1 am Innisfail RCMP while on routine patrol observed a white 2005 FORD SRW parked at the Innisfail Fas Gas.  

The vehicle began driving south bound and RCMP attempted a traffic stop with the truck.  

When police approached the truck the driver sped away at a high rate of speed in a residential area.  

Police did not pursue due to public safety reason. 

Shortly after police observed the same truck drive in the opposite lane and strike a curb eventually disabling the vehicle.  

The driver and passenger fled the scene on foot and were apprehended by RCMP members.  

The FORD truck was confirmed as stolen. 

The investigation continued which led police to enter an investigation into the possession of a number of stolen identification cards, bank cards, and cheques.  

A number of charges have been laid.

James Riley, a 26 year old male from Red Deer Alberta has been charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property exceeding $5000·        
  • Possession of a controlled substance·        
  • Fail to comply with probation order X3·        
  • Fail to stop for police·        
  • Dangerous Driving X2·        
  • Obstruct Police X2·        
  • Resist Arrest X2·        
  • Drive uninsured motor vehicle·        
  • Fail to remain at the scene of a collision X2

James Riley remains in custody pending release hearing to be held August 4th at 930 am at Red Deer Provincial Court

Katelin Cunningham, a 25 year old female from Innisfail Alberta has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5000 X3·        
  • Possession of a controlled substance·        
  • Obstruct Police·        
  • Theft under $5000·        
  • Possession of property obtained by Crime under $5000 X 16·        
  • Possess identification documents X5·        
  • Forgery X6

Katelyin Cunningham was released by a justice of the peace, her court appearance is set for August 4th at 930 am at Red Deer Provincial Court

This matter is before the courts and further information will not be forthcoming.
