As a business owner or entrepreneur handling everything that goes into marketing your business and brand can be a daunting task.

A marketing company from Red Deer offered up some tips and tricks at the latest Social Media Breakfast in Lacombe today.

Owner and Agency Director of Reaction, Mike Szyszka addressed the sold out crowd at Good Neighbour CoffeeHouse.

He says first and foremost you need to approach social media and every medium you use to market your business with a co-ordinated message.

“Really making sure your external communications are aligned with what’s happening in your business and making it not feel like you just have to sit down and come up with something to post to social, it can feel a little more strategic like there’s actually some synergy going on between what’s really happening in the day to day of the company and what you’re talking about, in not just in social media, but maybe it’s email, maybe it’s posters around town, but having a co-ordinated effort is really the key to everything”.

He also stressed the benefits of creating scalable content.

“What that means is creating content that you can build other pieces of content off of.  Great example, if you’re going to give a talk like we just did today, film that talk, there’s one great piece of content you can post on YouTube.  But then maybe that talk can be split up into 4 or 5 blog posts, maybe there’s a couple of great quotes out of each of those blog posts that can get posted to Instagram, so now you’ve taken one talk and maybe actually spun off 12-15 different pieces of unique content”.

Social Media Breakfast Lacombe is a not for profit that hosts talks the 1st Wednesday of every 2nd month for social media enthusiasts, beginners, and experts to share ideas, meeting like-minded people, and network.
